Boilers can be pricey, and replacing one is likely to set you back hundreds or even thousands of pounds. But, you may be able to get a free boiler through a grant.

Thanks to the government’s energy efficiency goals, people all over the country may be able to have a new boiler installed in their home free of charge or at a heavily discounted rate.

What is a boiler grant?

Grants for boilers are amounts of money awarded to allow you to replace your current boiler without having to fork out for a new one all by yourself.

It’s all down to the government’s Energy Company Obligation (ECO) scheme, which is an energy efficiency initiative that aims to reduce fuel poverty and decrease carbon emissions. Because of this, big energy companies have been told they have to help British homes improve their energy efficiency. Boiler grants are one of the ways they are doing this.

You could qualify for a free boiler grant or money towards a new boiler and if you are eligible for a grant you don’t have to worry about paying the grant back either – there are no repayments and no complicated terms and conditions to catch you out.
